The Maltsters Arms is situated in an idyllic spot on Bow Creek. There is no better place to while away a few hours whilst enjoying a bite to eat and a cold drink or 2!
Just Kick off your shoes, roll up your trousers and take a chill pill, there is no better way to relax than at the Maltsters!
In this part of Devon you could be mistaken for imagining you were going back in time, life is slower and more relaxing, it truly is a great place for recharging your batteries.
The Maltsters was previously owned by the flamboyant, celebrity chef Keith Floyd and many of his quirky touches still remain, new owner George Welsh is continuing along the same vein, watch out for the changes of ‘Mad George’. Read more about our history.
During the summer months our quayside is a popular spot where you can soak up the sun with fabulous views across Bow Creek, you will hear many ‘Tales of the Riverbank’ and perhaps by the time you leave you may have a few of your own! Our informal quayside BBQ is available every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings in the summer.
You can also dine in our superb restaurant which also overlooks Bow Creek. We have an enviable reputation for serving fantastic, imaginative dishes, all our fish, meat and vegetables are locally sourced, fresh and succulent. Tempted yet? Please view our menu.
The Old Winery is host to our 6 splendid rooms, each having it’s own individual theme courtesy of Floyd, from a luxurious draped four poster bed and Eastern Thai style to a seafaring cabin with views across the creek. See our rooms.
We make an ideal watering hole for all crafts along the river, whether by sail or engine, tie up on the moorings provided along the quayside and join us for lunch, dinner, BBQ or a refreshing drink.
