We are extremely fortunate to be located in such a beautiful part of Devon, right
on the edge of Bow Creek and surrounded by many interesting places to explore and

and after a busy day of sightseeing or just messing about on the river what better
place to rest your laurels than the Maltsters Arms.
Sharpham Vineyard & Cheese Dairy- Visit the vineyard and winery set in a stunning
location above the River Dart. Sample the International award winning red and white
wines. Watch cheesemaking through viewing window. Take a guided tour around the vineyard
learn the history and principles behind growing grapes in our cool climate. Then
return to the winery following a scenic river walk, with a chance to see the wide
variety of wildlife that lives on the River Dart.
Canoe Adventures- Presenting good fun to young and old aboard guided 9 and 12-seat
Voyager canoes on the wonderful River Dart in South Devon. Canoe guides and equipment,
tea coffee and hot chocolate are included. The canoes go from and to the slipway
beside the Maltsters Arms at the head of sheltered BowCreek on the west bank of the
River Dart in South Devon, halfway between Dartmouth and Totnes.
The South Devon Railway - One of Devon’s and the West Country’s best loved tourist
attractions and is the longest established steam railway in the south west. It is
a seven mile former Great Western Railway branch line, built in 1872, which runs
along the stunning valley of the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes. They
run steam trains with heritage rolling stock and offer a wonderful all day attraction
for families and people of all ages.
Staverton Riding School - Enjoy horse riding in the Devon countryside with SRS Training.
Tuition and hacking for all ages and abilities in a relaxed and friendly environment,
with qualified and experienced staff. Pony Days (full or half) for pony-mad kids,
lesson and mini-hack combination for younger ones, and Starter Hacks that are ideal
for families and groups, with a short lesson then a quiet hack.
Totnes Kayaks- Through the spring and summer months from Stoke Gabriel Totnes Kayaks
Ltd allows you to rent single and double sit on top kayaks so you can paddle across
the river to us for lunch! Singles over 18, families with children or groups are
welcome and no prior paddling experience is necessary.
